Here is a belated review of Heroes Often Fail from Crime Scene Scotland. Definitely not a fluff review, but with some positives and criticisms. Give it a look.

Hardcore Hardboiled hits the streets!

The Thuglit anthology, Hardcore Hardboiled (ISBN 0-7582-2266-1 ) has hit the streets. It features the best stories from the first year of Thuglit, as well as original stories from such well known noir writers as:

KEN BRUEN (author of American Skin and Priest)

SEAN CHERCOVER (author of BigCity, Bad Blood)

VICTOR GISCHLER (author of Shotgun Opera and Gun Monkeys)

CHARLIE STELLA (author of Mafiya, Shakedown)

DUANE SWIERCZYNSKI (author of The Blonde, The Wheelman)

It is my hope that this anthology gets some high profile exposure, as Todd Robinson (AKA, Big Daddy Thuglit) deserves the success. His eZine is an excellent place to find hard-hitting, neo-noir short stories.

I was lucky enough to see my story "Rescuing Isaac" published there. I got even luckier when it was selected to be part of this anthology.

So do me a favor. Run, don't walk, to your nearest bookstore and order this'll kick your ass. I promise.

Mouthfull of Bullets, Year One

My short story "Short Till" is now available in the anthology, "Mouthfull of Bullets, Year One."

This book has limited availability right now, but I have a few copies. So here's what I'm going to do...

The first THREE people to email me the phrase "Atlas is a smart guy" (it's from the story) at my address of will get a FREE signed copy of this anthology.

On top of that, anyone who pre-orders a copy of my Fall release, Beneath a Weeping Sky, will go on a list for a drawing for the remaining THREE copies of this anthology that I have on hand. To pre-order, just email me and tell me you want to reserve a copy.

This anthology contains a calvacade of great shorts that have appeared in the online/print magazine Mouthfull of Bullets. You'll enjoy them all.

Why are you still reading this? You've got some winning to do!

What I'm Doing Now

Just thought I'd tip my hand...I'm currently working on the fourth novel in the River City series, And Every Man Has To Die. It will be published about this time next year. I'm only about 20,000 words into it, but it is flowing nicely and I'm enjoying the story quite a bit.

Meanwhile, the third book, Beneath a Weeping Sky, is still on track for a Fall 2008 release.

I also received news of a story that will possibly be included in another anthology, but I won't say any more until it's official.
